Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission (NEHLM) was established in 2003 and continues to support the ministry of Rev. Daniel Paul in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.

Where are we

Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission is a Lutheran, non-profit organization of Faith Lutheran Church with its headquarters in La Grande, Oregon. NEHLM supports the ministry efforts of Reverend Daniel Paul, a Haitian born pastor assigned to the position of Bishop of the Nord Est region of Haiti.  The ministries are centered in Ouanaminthe, Haiti, a community of about 140,000 at the northeast border of Haiti and Dominican Republic (DR).

CHURCH AFFILIATION

Reverend Daniel Paul’s church affiliation is with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Haiti, which is in full altar and pulpit fellowship with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS).  We encourage you to visit the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod website  for information about the LCMS’s relationship with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Haiti and confessional information.

It started with a friendship...

Sam Wiseman and Daniel Paul preaching in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.

NEHLM began from God’s work in the relationship of Rev. Daniel Paul and Rev. Sam Wiseman.  Daniel and Sam went to seminary at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, from 1999-2001.  From this relationship came a commitment to support Reverend Paul, along with the construction work on an orphanage, school, and church complex beginning in 2003.  The first short-term mission team to serve in Haiti was from Lamb of God LCMS, in Lake Stevens, Washington, where Reverend Wiseman was serving at that time.

Reverend Wiseman accepted a call to Faith Lutheran Church in La Grande, Oregon, in late 2003.   In 2008, Lamb of God LCMS and Faith LCMS established an organization to provide long-term support for the ministries of Reverend Paul and create a sponsorship program for the orphans and school children in Ouanaminthe, Haiti.  The organization is called Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission (NEHLM).   Since then, God has continually blessed NEHLM with the ability to provide Reverend Paul with monetary and prayer support.
