NEHLM Update July 22nd

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

At the beginning of July, the Dominican Republic (DR) increased efforts to deport anyone who was in their country that was Haitian.  This has increased their awkward border tension.  How this is affecting our ministry in Ouanaminthe, a border town with the DR,  is summed up in Rev. Paul’s following quotes: “The extra cost for everything is higher in Haiti with the DR sending so many people into Haiti. Some do not speak our language and have never been in Haiti. This is a real problem.  Food prices are very high due to this situation along with the long dry season we had this year.”

Note: NEHLM did use some of your generous unallocated funds to assist with food cost this month and will probably need to do so again in August.  Sponsorships of orphans and students allow a consistent flow of support as unallocated gifts allow NEHLM to help in emergency situations. Thank you!

This past week the ministry welcomed two large groups (Hearts Afire and Caring 4 Haiti)  who were visiting ministries associated with Jen Wride and other local ministries. Jen is a Canadian that has worked alongside NEHLM for several years. We appreciate her supporters as some of their goodwill has spilled onto us.

Rev. Paul reported, “We are not getting rain; however, the crops are doing well.  We will be getting to harvest many of our crops soon.”

A short comment from me, the Pastoral Adviser: The stability of this ministry is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone” Ephesians 2:20. I was reminded during my visit last month of the steadfast proclamation of God’s Word as I observed the memorization of God’s Word, the edifying songs, and the diligence to apply God’s Word that permeate this ministry.  It is so refreshing to see these efforts in action.  We praise God for His direction.  We thank God for all who are involved with this ministry. As mentioned above, the consistent flow of funds from sponsorships allow these people to be cared for.  We still have many students that could be sponsored and a couple orphans.  Please pray with us that needed sponsors will be found for these young people.

Thank you for your interest and time,

Rev. Sam Wiseman
