Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Happy St. Valentines Day. Saint Valentine lived in the 3rd century AD. He was bold to encourage love to be shared. I praise God that you to walk along with us in this ministry to be bold in sharing your love with the Haitians at La Maison des Agneaux de Dieu Orphelinat (MADO- The House of the Lambs of God Orphanage).
The ministry is active with education, fine weather, agriculture, construction, and foremost sharing Jesus Christ. There is a medical mission team from Faith LCMS in Troy, MI that arrives next week. Mission teams are a joy for the ministry to host. The teams bring unique and varied services and relationships to our 70 plus orphans, 200 plus students, the staff, as well as the community. The mission team also is enlightened as they serve God through serving people (Matthew 25).
Rev. Paul reported that a school has begun to operate at our church plant in Baja (about 5 miles from the orphanage). The community has pleaded with Rev. Paul for 2-3 years to help educate their children. A very small percentage of children received any education previously due to no school within the 5 miles (1 & 1/2 hour walk), expense of books, uniforms, and tuition. We are presently serving 20 students. There is continued need for Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission, NEHLM, to have student sponsors. Please realize the benefits our students receive for $20.00 a month is comparable with many other sponsorship organizations that charge $30-40 a month. We are able to do so with volunteer administration, our older orphans serving in the school, and with Trinity Hope Feeding Program serving with us. We ask for your prayers and promotion of this need before this ministry.
A blessed Lenten Season to you all as we begin those forty days of reflective meditation February 18th, Ash Wednesday.
Rev. Sam Wiseman
NEHLM Pastoral Adviser
