Update November 13th, 2015

Greetings in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

“...the one who endures to the end will be saved” (Mark 13:13).

When I talked to Rev. Paul recently he confirmed that he would be preaching this Sunday, November 15th, at Trinity LCMS in Utica, Michigan.  It appears that Trinity has three Services on Sunday at 8:00, 9:30, and 11:00 a.m.  If you are in that area, please greet him and receive his words. He told me he was going to use Mark chapter 13:1-13 for his sermon.  I concurred that I was building my sermon with that passage also. We talked a bit about Jesus’ faithful words preparing His faithful.  May we all be willing to receive from our Lord through His Word and Sacraments to strengthen us, so that we will “endure to the end.”

Rev. Paul reported that the ministry is doing well.  There is a lot going on with school and agriculture, but they seem to be managing.  Rose Donna (an young adult who is now serving in the ministry who had been a resident, and our first orphan to graduate the 13th grade of education) is still waiting for “results” of the application she submitted to a university in Fort Liberte (about 20 miles from La Maison des Agneaux de Dieu Orphelinat--MADO).  She is a good student and helps gather and process information for Nord Est Haiti Lutheran Mission (NEHLM-the support organization for MADO) on the orphans and students for their sponsors. Let us pray for her continued steadfastness in pursuing her education.

I remember this summer being woken up on Saturday morning with someone repeatedly chanting 1-10 in Creole.  I went to investigate and found several orphans being led through Taekwondo.  Rev. Paul reported that some orphans went to Port au Prince on October 14th for the National Taekwondo competition.  They did very well as they returned with eight gold medals.  Participants included: Josue, Marguerite, Bengleinie, Jaccina, Antione Lisa Marie. We are pleased and impressed. Nice job!

Note: Rev. Paul is visiting Michigan November 14-17; there he will visit several very supportive churches walking with NEHLM to support this ministry. He will then go to Nashville, Tennessee to speak with Trinity/Hope Feeding Program November 17-24.  This agency supports feeding the students and orphans throughout the school year. We are truly blessed to have them also walking with us.

God’s peace,

Rev. Sam Wiseman
